Sea Serpent Puppet - Anthrocon Puppetry Track 2025

I have had the distinct honor of designing a cardboard sea serpent puppet for the puppetry track team at Anthrocon this year! The artist YvetheRed in conjunction with a team from Furry Puppetry have put together a workshop where there will be a group build of this puppet on Friday July 4th followed by showing off the puppet in the fursuit parade on Saturday July 5th! Third in line even. THIRD! Shoulda been first…but maybe that’s for the guests of honor. ;)

(Anthrocon is a furry convention in Pittsburgh PA that runs from July 3rd to July 6th.)

Not only is this a fun thing to do but to sweeten the pot this is a gigantic puppet. The sculpt I made is about 8 inches long. Furry Puppetry is going to blow up the design until the head alone is FOUR TO FIVE FEET LONG. Workshop attendees will also be building five body segments. Ever seen a Chinese dragon dance performance? Like that!

I am probably going to release this pattern sometime after Anthrocon is over for anyone else who might enjoy making their own dragon or sea serpent puppet after some small additions and comic instructions are created.
